- It seems the odds are ever in “The Hunger Games” favor.
Principal photography on the film adaptation of the Suzanne Collins book of the same name is complete. Filmed entirely in North Carolina, the 84-day shoot began on May 23. The film is due in theaters on March 23, 2012.
The film stars Jennifer Lawrence, Liam Hemsworth and Josh Hutcherson in the lead roles, with Woody Harrelson, Elizabeth Banks, Lenny Kravitz, Stanley Tucci, Donald Sutherland and Wes Bentley rounding out the cast.
Lionsgate acquired film rights to the Collins trilogy in the beginning of 2009 before the book had sold 500,00 copies. To date, the trilogy has sold more than 12 million print copies.
“The Hunger Games” revolves around Katniss Everdeen (Lawrence) who competes in the titular fight-to-the-death games that are nationally televised.

Josh Hutcherson is climbing up the cutie ladder, fast. His work on “The Hunger Games” is already earning him fans (and the film has yet to hit theaters!), plus he’s just been awarded the New Class superlative Most Likely To Play A Superhero. We’d love to see him in tights, but until that day happens, we’ll award him the also prestigious honor of Hump Day Hottie.
Check out this dreamy photo of Josh and keep reading for more details about him!
Vital stats: Soon-to-be 19-year-old Josh grew up in Kentucky and knew from early on that he wanted to act. So that’s what he did. He’s also a bit of a up-and-coming ladies man. He’s been linked to Vanessa Hudgens, and we have to admit she has the best taste in guys.
Now he’s one of our New Class inductees, and he seems pretty excited by it. “It’s very nice, especially to be considered with the group I’m in here with, all peers of mine I admire very much,” Josh said. “I’ve been an actor for a long time, so to finally get some recognition from some people that I think are really cool is pretty nice.”
Where you might have already seen him: He’s been acting for about a decade now and has quite the resume, with roles in films like “American Splendor,” “The Polar Express,” “Journey to the Center of the Earth,” “Bridge to Terabithia” and the Oscar-nominated “The Kids Are All Right.”
Why you should take notice of him now: Have we not mentioned enough that he’s starring in “The Hunger Games”? Oh, we did? Okay! He’s also got a bunch of other projects in the works, including “Red Dawn,” “Journey 2: The Mysterious Island” and “Carmel.”

Has anyone seen any really good fan made Hunger Games Trailers? I looked some up on you tube but nothing was really that appealing. Although there isn’t a lot to work with because The Hunger Games is so unique from what any of these actors have ever been in. Can’t wait to see the real trailer!
There has finally been some casting confirmations for The Expendables 2, which is scheduled to begin production in Bulgaria next month. The Simon West-directed testosterone-fest already added heavyweights like Chuck Norris and Jean-Claude Van Damme to the acting roster, while Bruce Willis and Arnold Schwarzenegger are confirmed to expand on their brief roles from the first film. The latest addition to The Expendables 2 cast is fresh-faced actor—who’s career is definitely on the rise—Liam Hemsworth.
While his older brother Chris Hemsworth made ladies swoon with this summer’s blockbuster Thor, Liam hopes that by starring in this and the upcoming The Hunger Games, he’ll propel himself into the Hollywood stratosphere. The 21-year-old actor will play a sniper in The Expendables 2, and to date, will be the youngest cast member in the sequel. Rumors are already being circulated that he could be the brawny son to one of the film’s aging action stars, but nothing is confirmed.
With the film currently in development—does this latest casting put the film over the top? Or are you happy to see a young star get some shine time? Sylvester Stallone, Jason Statham, Dolph Lundgren, Jet Li, Terry Crews, Mickey Rourke, and Randy Couture are expected to kick-ass and take names when The Expendables 2 hits theaters on August 17, 2012.
Has anyone seen any really awesome manipulations for The Hunger Games? The poster Lionsgate released was pretty basic. I’m waiting for a real poster that is totally awesome. Who else can’t wait to see one with actual pictures of the actors. When are we going to get some more pictures of the actors on set. I feel like they are trying to keep everything a secret. So secretive. Can’t wait!
