Hunger Games Second Movie Has Been Confirmed!
This week LIONSGATE announced that the second book of The Hunger Games Series, “Catching Fire,” will be delivered to audiences in November 2013.
This is a huger announcement and it is a rare occurence for a sequel to be announced prior to the release of the first movie. This does not happen very often!
The Hunger Games has been hyped as the next “Harry Potter” or “Twilight.” And it’s no coincidence that LIONSGATE scheduled “Catching Fire” on the same date AND the weekend before Thanksgiving. The same timeframe that several “Potter” and “Twilight” movies had $100-million-plus openings.
Although the possibility of a third film being made seems strong, no date for its release has been set.
Soundtrack from T Bone Burnett for the Hunger Games Movie
Lionsgate will partner with Universal Republic Records for an album which includes songs played in the movie and music inspired by the film’s themes. Additionally, there will also will be an album for the score score, written by Oscar winner T Bone Burnett and composer Danny Elfman.
Produced by Burnett, executive music producer for the film, the not-quite-soundtrack will include music by “some of music’s most successful and acclaimed artists,” Lionsgate’s head of music, Tracy McKnight said in a release.
No artists’ names have been announced yet. We will keep you posted!
